Deutschland – Attention, danger of falling! The thriller “Fall – Fear Reaches New Heights” is now also available on Blu-ray and DVD. Two friends are stuck here at dizzying heights. Absolutely nothing for people with a fear of heights – or is it? the TAG24 review.

It’s been a year since Dan (Mason Gooding, 26) died while climbing in front of his wife Becky (Grace Caroline Currey, 26). Meanwhile, the traumatized widow is holed up at home, plagued by horrifying nightmares and avoiding her concerned father (Jeffrey Dean Morgan, 56).

Then suddenly her best friend Hunter (Virginia Elizabeth Gardner, 27) is at the door and suggests a new climbing goal for Becky – the B67, a 600 meter high television tower. Becky should conquer her fears once and for all and finally scatter her husband’s ashes. By the way, influencer Hunter wants to film a viral video for her followers.

Becky is skeptical at first, but eventually lets herself be persuaded. Hunter packs up her drone and the two head to the US-American no man’s land. And indeed: with a lot of fear and trembling, the friends manage to climb the narrow spire.

Then, after countless selfies, the shock – on the way down the rusty ladder breaks away, it’s 60 meters to the next platform. Becky and Hunter have only 50 feet of rope, but no water, no food, and zero cell phone reception.

At 600 meters, their friendship becomes a matter of life and death and dark secrets are revealed.

“Fall” relies primarily on effective shock moments

Are you already afraid of heights on a stepladder? Then “Fall – Fear Reaches New Heights” promises you a lot of thrills and consistently sweaty palms. In dizzying images, you feel very close to the two young actresses and suffer with them in a very small space.

However, those who also suffer are the spectators, who at least have a minimal understanding of climbing. Basic safeguards are missing and Becky and Hunter make mistakes that experienced adrenaline junkies would never make.

Of course, that undermines the credibility of the whole thing and makes it clear what the script is all about – namely mere moments of shock. Some plot twists also seem staged and logically not entirely conclusive.

“Fall: Fear Reaches New Heights” was filmed at a height of up to 30 meters

However, that doesn’t detract from the suspense at all, because in “Fall” you’re far too fascinated by the insane situation the two young women find themselves in.

This is mainly due to the good chemistry between Currey (“Shazam!”) and Gardner (“Marvel’s Runaways”), who play their rather pale characters with a lot of charisma. Their inside jokes and jibes bring some much-needed lightness to highly tense situations, and that’s exactly why you root for them at times.

Last but not least, it should be emphasized that the two young actresses did not climb in front of a green screen, but at a height of “only” 30 meters on replica sets. Together with a minimalistic soundtrack, gripping camera work and a more than solid cast, the weakening script is definitely upgraded.

The exciting thriller has been available on all popular streaming platforms since December 1st. In summary, “Fall: Fear Reaches New Heights” is worth it as a guaranteed thrill for everyone with a fear of heights and genre fans who love suspense in a small space.
