Dubrovko Lako, Rainer Schumich, Christian Hofmann, Andreas Meller, Filip Tyran and Tome Jankovic are the names of the six men who were seen in this formation for the first time on Friday, November 10th, 2023. At the premiere performance, 600 music enthusiasts ensured a sold-out venue and a great atmosphere in the Csello and rocked out to “Africa”, “Rosanna” and “Hold the Line”.
For the band members of “Falling in Between” TOTO is one of the best bands of all time. “We have a deep respect and awe for TOTO’s music because we know how difficult this music is to play and at what high level you have to perform to do it. The songs are sacred to us,” enthused Rainer Schumich. The title “Falling in Between” in particular is considered a favorite hit by the musicians – reason enough to choose it as their band name. Dubravko Laco, known as Dudo, is a Croatian-Austrian singer. He was the lead singer of the rock band “Ziva Legenda” and played the lead role in the Croatian version of the musical Hair. After moving to Austria, Dudo founded the band “Joy Bow”, which caused storms of enthusiasm as the frontman at Nova Rock, the Donauinselfest and the Red Bull Soundclash.

Born in Oslip, Rainer Schumich was already practicing the drums at the age of six, playing in the Oslip and Rust music clubs and then in several bands, such as “Pann Bay Bastards”, “The Covernment” and “JayBow”. In 2007 he joined “She Says”. The highlight was a tour as Brian Adams’ opening act through Germany, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg.

Christian Hofmann learned to play the piano at the age of six at the Haydn Conservatory and later the trombone, which he also played with the military band and the Pannonian wind orchestra. He deepened his knowledge by studying IGP at the Vienna Conservatory. Since 2001 he has worked as a singer, composer, songwriter, pianist, keyboardist and guitarist in various rock and pop formations in Vienna and northern Burgenland. Christian Hofmann is probably known to many as the ORF journalist at the time in the Bild editorial team.

Filip Tyran studied music education, singing and piano at the university. Although he serves many musical genres, he is particularly deeply rooted in the music of the Burgenland Croatians. He was a singer with the Vienna Chamber Choir, in the choir of the New Opera Vienna, and is the artistic director of the folklore ensemble Kolo Slavuj. He is a keyboard player and singer in the band “Coffeeshock Company” and in numerous other rock and pop formations and teaches at the high school.

Tome Jankovic learned bass at the Music Conservatory in Bratislava and now works as a sound engineer, producer and studio musician. He was a member of various rock, pop and tamburizza bands, such as “PAX”, “Rubin”, “BassBariTenori”, “Rítam Cafe”. With Ch. Kolonovits and W. Resetarits he wrote the Croatian verse for the Burgenland anthem.

Andreas Meller studied guitar, jazz and pop at the Joseph Haydn Conservatory in Eisenstadt. He accompanied numerous bands, such as “Trashbax”, as a guitarist. He was the frontman for “The OverAlls”, who played concerts all over the world. He got a taste of the great stage at Nova Rock, the Donauinselfest and Picture On. In Eisenstadt he teaches guitar.
“Falling in Between” will be going on tour next year. For example, you will be able to experience the band in the legendary Vienna scene in spring 2024. The musicians definitely have the TOTO management from LA behind them, who are happy that “Falling in Between” will once again present the great TOTO hits to a wide audience.
