Capon, from Ostend, broke through at the top level with Club Brugge in the 2006-07 season. He stayed there until 2010, but was last loaned out to Kortrijk. Capon then played with Kerels between 2010 and 2015 before joining KVO.
“After 16 seasons of professional football and around 400 matches in the Premier League, the story is over for me,” Capon said in a video posted on KVO’s social media. “These are numbers I can be proud of, but they’re not really important to me. What I’m most proud of is always being myself, which isn’t easy in the soccer world.”
“It’s a half-hearted end, but I’m grateful for the seasons spent with you,” he told KVO supporters. “I will keep an unforgettable memory of this period. Like the magnificent farewell during the last home game, which gave me goosebumps.”
