Chennai: Australian star David Warner holds a place in the record book with the match against India in the World Cup. Warner became the fastest player to score 1000 runs in ODI World Cup.

Warner surpassed the record held by Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar and South African star AB de Villiers. Warner scored 1000 runs in 19 innings in the World Cup. De Villiers and Tendulkar took 20 innings to reach 1000 runs.

Warner was dismissed for 41 runs in the match. Vivian Richards and Sourav Ganguly, who scored 1000 runs in 21 innings, are at the third position in the list.

Had he scored 22 runs in today’s match, Rohit Sharma would have surpassed Warner’s record, currently the Indian captain has 978 runs in 17 innings. Rohit can own the record if he scores 22 runs in today’s match or in the next match. (AP Photo/Eranga Jayawardena)

Regarded as one of the best batsmen in cricket, Tendulkar holds the record for most runs in the World Cup. Sachin scored 2278 runs in World Cup matches.
