The photos of what remains of the bike show the violence of the accident which took place shortly before midnight on the R3 near Gilly towards Heppignies. A motorcyclist lost control of his motorbike while he was involved in a chase with the police.

“He was in default of insurance and registration. In these circumstances, he fled to escape a police check”, specifies the Charleroi prosecutor’s office the day after the events. He had joined Chatelineau.
The exit from the road was particularly violent. The motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle, had his helmet broken and died of his injuries.
Several police zones from Aiseau-Presles/Châtelet/Farciennes, Brunau and Charleroi intervened on the scene. The traffic police (WPR) also intervened. The R3 was closed during the intervention, and the motorcyclist’s body was taken care of by the Fontaine funeral directors.
