The Bruck Mürzzuschlag district administration confiscated two cars in Styria on Saturday: A 57-year-old and his 25-year-old offspring not only lost their driver’s license but also their set of wheels after a race. A civil patrol caught the father-son team on Saturday evening in the municipality of Kapfenberg.
The two cars stopped at an intersection on the B116 around 6:30 p.m. and then sped away when the green light turned on, their tires spinning loudly. The officers from the state transport department gave chase. The measuring device showed a maximum speed of 118 km/h – in the local area. When questioned, the speeders were unreasonable: they only wanted to carry out a “performance check after an engine repair”.
