Irvine hope ahead of mega week |
One ticket, few tickets!
Important and exciting days are ahead for Jackson Irvine (29). Three more games with FC St. Pauli in the 2nd division – and the final allocation of squad places for the World Cup with Australia.
The Irvine hope before the mega week: one ticket, few tickets!
Australia’s final squad for the World Cup in Qatar will be announced on Tuesday. Irvine: “I think I’m in, but you can’t be sure until it’s finally decided.”
But he is not only thinking about his World Cup ticket, but also about that of his teammate Connor Metcalfe (22): “Of course I hope that he will also be there. He has developed great and hangs in there. He deserves it.”
Of course, Irvine also knows that the World Cup is very controversial, especially among the supporters of St. Pauli. Nevertheless, he says: “It would mean a lot to me to be at this World Cup as a St. Paulian.”
But before the World Cup, St. Pauli will get down to business three more times. The table situation is still precarious. In Düsseldorf, against Kiel and in Karlsruhe, as few tickets as possible should be shot and many points should be scored.
Irvine: “We are disappointed ourselves that we remain below our potential. The results do not match the performances. Nevertheless, everyone is in a positive mood because we just held up so well against the top teams. We don’t have to fear anyone.”
