A serious mountain bike accident occurred on Saturday around 3 p.m. A 52-year-old from the Wels-Land district was traveling down the valley towards Offensee on the “Karl-Heissl-Trail” after stopping at the Fahrnau-Stüberl.
He crashed in a left-hand bend. He fell 25 meters down steep terrain and then remained seriously injured in a dry stream bed.
Witnesses discovered the seriously injured man
Witnesses discovered the 52-year-old and alerted the rescue workers. The Ebensee mountain rescue service, the “Martin 3” emergency medical helicopter and the Gmunden Alpine police responded. While the helicopter was preparing a rescue with the rope, mountain rescuers went up to the scene of the accident and provided first aid. The place where the injured man lay was difficult to access.
After emergency medical first aid, the seriously injured man was taken by helicopter to the Salzkammergut Clinic in Gmunden.
