Recall of surprise eggs: These children’s products are affected

According to the information, the products Kinder-Surprise Maxi (100 grams), Kinder-Mini-Eggs (100 grams) and Kinder-Mix packs containing one of the above-mentioned items with a best-before date between August and September 2022 are also being recalled. All other Ferrero products, including other children’s products in Germany, are not affected by this recall.

All items affected by the recall were manufactured at the same factory, namely the Arlon plant in the NRW– Neighboring country Belgium. The food authorities are investigating there.

As the French health authorities announced in Paris on Tuesday, there were 21 cases of infection in the country. It is genetically the same salmonella that was responsible for an outbreak of disease in Great Britain and Ireland. In Belgium itself, there have apparently been no cases of infection so far, only suspected cases.

Eating food contaminated with Salmonella bacteria can cause discomfort, diarrhea, possibly vomiting and fever. These symptoms can increase in young children, immunocompromised and elderly people. Consumers should urgently consult a doctor and immediately point out the suspected salmonella. The incubation period after consumption is usually 48 hours, sometimes up to 3 days.
