Feyenoord-Ajax match cancelled on Sunday

It is a match that many football fans always look forward to: Feyenoord against Ajax. This coming Sunday, that match would be played in Rotterdam.

But the match has been cancelled. The municipality of Rotterdam decided this, because the police are on strike. This means that officers will not be working that day. They think that money agreements are not properly arranged, and that is why they are going to demonstrate on Sunday.

We cannot guarantee the safety of the players and the public if the police are not present at the match.

Mayor Aboutaleb

The mayor will not allow the match to go ahead without police, because there are often riots between Feyenoord and Ajax supporters.

It is not yet known when the match between Feyenoord and Ajax will be rescheduled.
