Fiat Unveils Multiplay Concept at Paris Motor Show
At the 2026 Paris Motor Show, Fiat unveiled the Multiplay, a 4.45-metre-long concept vehicle that transforms from an SUV into a pickup through a sliding rear section, Dezeen reported. The design merges the interior passenger space of a multi-purpose vehicle with the raised ride height of an SUV and an open cargo bed.
Fiat CEO Arnaud Belloni positioned the vehicle as a modern exploration of flexible interior packaging. Inspired by the 1956 Fiat 600 Multipla, which seated six people within a 3.5-metre body, the Multiplay reinterprets the historical MPV layout using movable components.
Repositionable Seating Supports Six Passengers and Pets
The cabin utilizes repositionable seating to support up to six passengers alongside various cargo configurations. A multifunctional unit known as the Petsenger seat accommodates a pet, supports a child car seat, or serves as a small table. Meanwhile, the front passenger seat rotates toward the rear to form a reclining Sunseat that uses the dashboard as a backrest beneath a panoramic roof.
Exterior styling features a bright green bodywork inspired by watermelon colors, paired with an interior palette of red and pink textiles. These fabrics were produced via a stitch-free, three-dimensional knitting process. The dashboard integrates a digital display that turns off completely when the vehicle is powered down.
Practical exterior details include a rear spoiler that rotates into an integrated bicycle rack designed to carry two bikes. Belloni described the vehicle’s capacity to shift across configurations as “a symbol of freedom.” The concept also features a rotating rear spoiler and a sliding bed.

Concept Cars Test Future Urban Transportation Solutions
Alongside the Multiplay, Fiat presented the Multiplina, a separate three-metre electric concept featuring four seats and two doors. The company frames these designs as testing grounds for future urban and family transportation solutions rather than direct previews of upcoming production vehicles.
This distinction matters because none of the moving elements—including the sliding bed, the rotating spoiler, or the Petsenger seat—have been confirmed for a showroom model. Belloni stated that Fiat remains focused on investigating new vehicle categories across various size classes.
