Thanks to the numerous competitions it organizes, Fifa is a financial empire that generates billions. Between 2019 and 2022, the international federation recorded a record turnover of 7.6 billion dollars (around 7 billion euros). But part of this money is donated to the development of football in the four corners of the planet. This is the subject of the communication this Friday from the powerful organization.

Thanks to its Forward development program, created in 2016, Fifa indicates that it has injected 2.8 billion dollars available to its 211 member associations, the six confederations and the various regional and territorial associations. This initiative has made it possible to finance more than 1,600 projects, as indicated in a recent report examining the results of these first seven years of existence.

10 million euros benefited France

“We are committed to using football revenues to help develop our sport around the world, for girls and boys, women and men. We kept our word, declared FIFA President Gianni Infantino. These investments are as much our responsibility as an obligation. They have increased sevenfold since 2016, while Fifa’s revenues have not even doubled over the same period. This shows that in addition to being managed correctly, funds are used in a targeted manner and with a high degree of supervision in order to sustainably serve the development of football. »

The report further highlights that 80% of investments made were made directly with member associations, whether to make a vital contribution to football development activities or facilitate investments in long-term football-related projects.

France thus received nearly 10 million dollars. The FFF, for example, used funding of $2 million to launch a vast project to develop futsal, beach soccer and five-a-side football fields.
