“When we entered Ukraine, we knew nothing”
Russian soldier engaged for two months on the Ukrainian front, Pavel Filatiev denounces the war of Vladimir Putin, the under-equipment of his army and the demotivation of his troops.
Son of a soldier, former soldier himself then horse trainer, Pavel Filatiev decides in the summer of 2021 to re-enlist as a sergeant in the Russian army. Attached to a parachute regiment, a supposedly elite corps, he discovers an army he no longer recognizes: dilapidated, disorganized, with a leadership as arrogant as it is incompetent. In February 2022, he was part of the troops going on exercise to the Ukrainian border and on the 24th, he took part in the invasion of the country.
