Final Fantasy 14 won’t have NFTs, but MMOs will get a graphical upgrade

When Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda said that the publisher was considering adding NFTs to games, many gamers were concerned that the company had fallen victim to the hype. Players in Final Fantasy XIV were especially nervous, waiting for the announcement of some NFT cards, models or things. Fortunately, now you can breathe.

Final Fantasy XIV game director Naoki Yoshida has confirmed that there will be no NFTs in the game. He stated this during a recent livestream.

Given the way FF14 is set up, we don’t intend to implement NFT elements at this time. So if you were concerned, I can state straight out that we don’t have any plans to add this feature to the game at the moment.

It was also announced during the stream that the free trial period of Final Fantasy XIV will return on February 22. Previously, this feature was disabled due to problems with the servers.

In addition, the developers showed how the graphics will improve with the release of version 7.0. Characters will become more detailed, get high-quality hair, skin and equipment. There will be shader improvements, high quality textures for environments and dungeons. The development process of the upgrade is still underway, but the release is just around the corner.
