For the past few days, it has been possible to try out Final Fantasy XVI through a demo on PS5. And what a demo! The latter lasts two hours. Throughout these 120 minutes, players will be able to discover the world of Valisthéa. Note that this demo is divided into two parts. The first will help you take your first steps in this new universe, while the second will focus on the clashes and the famous Primordials. And if you are afraid of wasting your time by replaying this part of the game when it is released, note that you can recover the demo save for your game.

If on Twitter some have embarked on a debate to know which of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom or Final Fantasy XVI can claim the title of game of the year (the famous GOTY), others are content to quietly enjoy the generous demo offered by Square Enix. Because whatever the gossips say, the latter seems to be to the taste of the majority of players. On the other hand, some points left the players rather skeptical… like this QTE.

A QTE… without a QTE?

Final Fantasy XVI: This is what happens when you mess up the demo tutorial. This is the first time we've seen this!

If the combat system of FF16 resembles that of a Devil May Cry, it sometimes tries to put your reflexes to the test. At certain times, QTEs are indeed offered. QTEs are those moments that prompt you to press such and such a key in a limited time, in order to dodge, attack or perform any other action. In FF16, they are used in particular to avoid certain particularly powerful enemy attacks. If you miss the QTE, you lose life. Well, except for this one…

Because when, faced with a morbol, the first QTE of this kind is presented to you, it is simply impossible to miss. A point that has outraged some. But as specified by Lance McDonald, the one who put forward this detail, this is probably due to the fact that it is the tutorial of the game. As he says himself, he missed QTEs afterwards and, this time around, suffered the consequences. Still, tutorial or not, we’ve never seen that in a video game.
