Pauline Blandin, 37, is an investment manager in the Ecological Transition and Impact team at BNP Paribas Asset Management-Private Asset. It is one of the winners of the Giverny-“Le Point” awards in the large companies category. Trained at EM Lyon, she started working in an NGO for street children and then in responsible tourism. She then realized that “finance had an important role to play in financing the energy transition”.

At BNP Paribas for twelve years, she started in the commodity finance business in Brazil, where she worked in the agriculture sector (sugar, coffee, soy). “I was already trying a lot to push CSR issues and to include CSR performance in our credit rating methodologies, so that it had an impact on the interest rates we charged our customers,” recalls she. In 2014, she left for the United States, where it was “more difficult to push these issues”, to work more on energy, before returning to France in 2017.

This team was in charge of the financing of large companies, even institutions, that is to say the States. “The concept is to include sustainable development objectives in the financing that we grant to our clients,” explains Pauline Blandin. It’s a way of encouraging them to transition faster. »

Since March 2022, Pauline Blandin says she finally had “the chance to join a team that is in investment, therefore taking a stake in the capital of much younger companies, especially in the world of start-ups”. This team is structured around three themes: social impact, climate change and local development, and natural capital. “We are at the heart of the impact since the goal is to invest in companies or projects to bring out new models that will provide solutions to ecological transitions”, sums up Pauline Blandin.
