Especially the big market players stand out by granting you advantages of more than 500 euros if you conclude a contract for natural gas and electricity with them. A few months ago, only a few energy suppliers were looking for new customers. The spike in prices had increased the risk of non-payment and costs, so much so that some small suppliers had decided not to accept any new customers. The big players hadn’t been looking for additional customers intensively either. Consequently, the energy suppliers had no longer launched actions aimed at attracting new customers.
In the meantime, the situation has changed. Energy prices are at a much lower level and natural gas reserves have held up better than expected. This results in the return of fixed tariffs with Engie, TotalEnergies, Luminus and Eneco as well as a whole series of welcome reductions. Through such actions, energy suppliers try to convince households and SMEs to opt for their services.

The highest discount versus the best rate
An analysis carried out via the comparison site Monenergie.be tells us that for average consumption, the reduction for natural gas is the highest with Luminus (Optimal tariff formula). The benefit amounts to 219.37 euros on an annual basis. For electricity, you can count on a reduction of 327.26 euros.

The highest discount does not necessarily result in the best rate however. For natural gas, TotalEnergies offers the Pixel tariff formula as the most advantageous option, while the welcome reduction amounts to ‘only 50 euros’. It is therefore always in your interest not to be blinded by the actions of energy suppliers, but to compare the overall offers (including welcome discounts).
Various promotions
Good to know: there are several forms of promotion. In some cases this is a fixed premium, while other providers provide a discount per kilowatt hour or give a certain number of kilowatt hours of energy for free.
As regards the reduction per kilowatt hour, the impact of the promotional action will be greater for households with higher consumption. The conditions to be met to benefit from the full reduction: you must change supplier online, remain a customer for a whole year and pay by direct debit. What about fixed prices?
As far as fixed tariffs are concerned, the reductions remain rather modest. Only Luminus grants welcome discounts via Monenergie.be and they are significantly lower than those linked to variable tariffs. For Comfy contracts, new customers benefit from an advantage of 61.24 euros. As far as Comfy+ is concerned, it is 63.36 euros.
