Tehran – A fire broke out in the notorious Evin prison in the Iranian capital Tehran on Saturday evening. The cause of the fire is therefore still unclear. There was talk of shots and explosions in the detention center on social media, and videos there seem to confirm this. Anti-government protests had continued unabated the day before, continuing in response to the fire in northern Tehran, where the prison is located. Since the Iranian government has again blocked access to the Internet in many parts of the country and the capital, the situation was still confusing hours later.
