Firefighters evacuate the warehouse and paralyze production

Several fire crews from the Valencia Provincial Consortium have been working since early this Wednesday on an industrial fire declared at the Dulcesol factory in Gandía.

The consortium has confirmed that at the start of the fire there were two crews from Gandía, with a sergeant, and one from the neighboring municipality of Oliva. Later, the means have expanded to 7 fire crewsas reported by 112.

Firefighters have evacuated the facilities as a precaution and at the moment no victims have been reported.

All product production has also been paralyzed in this warehouse, owned by the company Vicky Foods, in charge of making Dulcesol brand products.

The warehouse is located on Camí Vell de Oliva in the town of Gandía.

Apparently, according to some witnesses, the fire could have originated in the oven that makes the sliced ​​bread.

The fire has generated intense black smoke that has forced the closure of several streets near the industrial estate where the warehouse is located.

According to the company, the fire broke out in one of the production lines of the Gandia plant.

The company activated the safety protocol “immediately”, the firefighters were notified and the personnel who were in the plant at that time were evacuated.

Right now the company is coordinating efforts to resume its activity “in the next few hours,” sources from the firm have told Europa Press.

The Vicky Foods plant in Gandia, made up of 16 production lines and in which 850 people work, it is dedicated to finished products such as croissants, Neapolitans, ensaimadas, milk bread, brioches, anise cakes, muffins, savory pastries and sliced ​​bread, as detailed on its website.
