Firefighters responded to a roof fire on Sunday at 1:30 a.m. in Anderlecht. No injuries were reported.

The fire broke out in a building housing a business on the ground floor. The residents of the upper floors were already safe when the fire crews arrived, their spokesperson said.

The power to the tram catenaries was cut off during the intervention and a security perimeter was set up. Firefighters fought the flames from the inside and outside, and prevented it from spreading to neighboring roofs. One of them was slightly injured. The cause of the disaster remains unknown. The accommodation is now uninhabitable.

The intervention, which required significant resources, was completed around 3:30 a.m.
