Firefighters from several barracks intervened on the spot, including the stations of Saint-Hubert, Neufchâteau, Bouillon and Libramont. Farmers from the region also came to lend a hand to the intervention services.
“We called in a rotary cutter to make an opening in the fir forest and thus allow the tractors to spread the water on the smoldering fire”, indicated Sunday the mayor of Libramont, Laurence Crucifix.
Firefighters remained on site until around 10:45 p.m. Saturday. “The farmers returned to the site this morning. The forest ranger ensures the follow-up”, continues the mayor. Many more limited brush fires broke out throughout the weekend in the province of Luxembourg. The firefighters intervened in particular in the municipalities of Bouillon, Libramont, Bastogne, Léglise or even Fauvillers, reports the Luxembourg rescue zone.
Early Saturday afternoon, a fire broke out in particular on very steep terrain near the site of the Tomb of the Giant (Bouillon).
