“First Arab Spacewalk: Emirati Astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi Makes History on Mission 69”

The Emirati astronaut, Sultan Al Neyadi, became the first Arab to conduct a spacewalk, on Friday, outside the International Space Station, as part of the missions of Mission 69 on the station.

This mission, the fourth to walk in space this year, will include assigning Al Neyadi and fellow astronaut Stephen Bowie to perform basic tasks, according to the official Emirates News Agency.

It is expected that the journey of the two astronauts in space walking outside the station will take regarding 6 and a half hours, as they will work on maintaining and modernizing the station.

The main objective of this mission will be to replace the radio frequency “RFG” unit that is part of the International Space Station’s “S-Band” communication system, in preparation for its return to Earth, according to Wham.
