Big media hype on Thursday in Braunau: Journalists from all over Austria accepted the Interior Ministry’s invitation to visit the large construction site around Hitler’s birthplace. People were also allowed to enter the building, which was in need of renovation and into which hardly anyone had been allowed to set foot for more than ten years. What was previously commonplace – the Lebenshilfe ran a shop in the Hitler House – was banned when the facility moved out in 2011.
