Five children in Graz affected by illness

On Friday it became known that a pair of siblings had been infected with measles and are now being treated in a Graz hospital. Concerns quickly arose that other children could be infected. So far five cases are known.

Four of the five children, all between four and eight years old, are in the clinic’s infection ward. Another child is in home care, as reported by the “Kronen Zeitung”. The course of the disease was all within the normal range.

Measles is actually considered defeated. But in recent years the number of infected people has been increasing again worldwide.

Measles is transmitted by droplets, the symptoms are similar to those of the flu. But suddenly sufferers get a rash. Other complications such as pneumonia can occur.
