flexible Motorola razr smartphone is almost impossible to fix

IFixit experts studied the internal features of Motorola razr – a smartphone with a flexible display, which is made in the classic clamshell form factor.

Recall that the device is equipped with a Snapdragon 710 processor, 6 GB of RAM and a flash drive with a capacity of 128 GB. There are two cameras – with a resolution of 16 million and 5 million pixels.

The flexible screen has a size of 6.2 inches diagonally and has a resolution of 2142 × 876 pixels. There is an auxiliary external Quick View screen with a diagonal of 2.7 inches and a resolution of 800 × 600 pixels.

An autopsy revealed that the RAM and flash memory chips were made by Samsung. There is a Qualcomm WCN3990 module that provides support for Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth LE and FM-radio.

The design includes two batteries. One of them has a capacity of 1245 mAh, the other – 1265 mAh. Thus, the total capacity is 2510 mAh.

The only advantage of the Motorola razr design is the use of standard T3 Torx fasteners. It is noted that theoretically there is the possibility of replacing a flexible screen.

At the same time, the repair is very complicated due to the use of adhesive. Replacing the batteries will require almost complete disassembly of the device. Plus, the charging port is soldered to the main board.

As a result, the maintainability of Motorola razr was rated only one out of ten points (on the iFixit scale).
