Flight Disruptions: Lufthansa Seeks Damages from Last Generation Organization

The action lasted a full two hours. Numerous planes might not take off, dozens had to be diverted. And as the “Neue Zürcher Zeitung” now knows, more than 4,000 people are said to have missed their flight that day.

Lufthansa announced last week that it intends to claim damages from the Last Generation organization. The intention is to “assert claims for damages” for the affected airlines in the Lufthansa Group (Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian Airlines and Eurowings). The group left open when a lawsuit was filed and the amount of damage claims asserted.

“Aggrieved companies are probably obliged to their shareholders to assert claims.” That says Stefan Schifferdecker, chairman of the Berlin regional association in the German Association of Judges. However, it is uncertain whether Lufthansa will be successful with its lawsuit.
