According to OECD figures, 74% of the Chilean population has obesity or overweightwhich positions our country in the “top five” worldwide of these indices, only behind Mexico, the United States and New Zealand respectively.
To mitigate this reality, the Florida Sports Corporation makes 130 sports activity workshops available to its neighbors of all ages for this 2023, ranging from traditional Zumba classes to innovative hydro hits and unknown art. martial art Krav Maga, among others.
Classes begin on March 6 and will continue until December and are free of charge. In this regard, the director of the Corporation, Sergio Morales, highlights the importance of reactivating the population, after the pandemic, in innovative classes to arouse their interest.
“This year we have increased the classes and places that we will offer to the community because we know that after two years of pandemic and the few resources that the population has, investing in physical activity has taken a backseat. That is why as a corporation we feel the relevance to increase our offer for our neighbors to do sports and thus reduce the high rates of obesity that we had and that increased after the pandemic” Morales highlighted.
