A Florida police officer who allegedly took a deceased’s credit card to buy eyelash extensions and fast food was arrested on Tuesday for theft.

“She was a police officer, but she doesn’t deserve that title now,” Saint-Cloud police chief Doug Goerke said Wednesday, according to Law & Crime media. The badge she wore has been tarnished and will never be worn again; in fact, it will be destroyed.”

Dianne Ferreira, 25, has been accused of stealing the credit card details of a man she was reportedly called to in early April who was having difficulty breathing.

When the emergency services arrived on site, the man was however already dead, according to what the English-speaking media continued.

Except that in the following weeks, his widow noted suspicious purchases, including gasoline, an order of fast food from the restaurant chain Wendy’s as well as an overnight stay at the hotel, made after the death of her husband. .

Two other attempts, for eyelash extensions and gasoline, were reportedly noted on the card after the latter was cancelled. It is by tracing the suspicious vehicle that the police would have gone back to Dianne Ferreira, according to Law & Crime.

The police officer would have admitted, in particular, in interrogation, to have taken a photo of the card in order to make a series of online purchases, totaling $450. She was formally charged with credit card theft, fraudulent use of a credit card and using the identity of a deceased person.

“As a law enforcement officer, it makes me sick and nauseous every time we have to do something like this,” Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez said at the press conference. Everyone is held responsible for their actions. […] To take advantage of a person in time of need is absolutely wrong.”
