Endless Wellness – “hand on face”

FM4 Charts: Every Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. on FM4 and online after the show.

Often tried, seldom achieved: Here comes the debut single of a band, with a fresh sound and fresh words, with Viennese idiom, without clearly referring to the usual role models. A song about vulnerability and toxic images of masculinity, about erectile dysfunction, about smoking and about love. The band Endless Wellness, consisting of childhood friends Philipp, Adele, Hjörtur and Milena, combine hated indie rock with an anthemic choir and, yes, rhyming from Spatzi to Nackerbatzi. A hit in the format of Isolation Berlin’s most existential moments; It’s almost unbelievable how well it all works out in three minutes.

My Ugly Clementine – „Are You In“

Already with 5K HD Mira Lu Kovacs dreamed of “Happy Fxxxing Life”, now she also devotes herself to the pursuit of the good life as part of the now supergroup trio My Ugly Clementine. Accordingly, the upcoming second album by Kovacs, Sophie Lindinger and Nastasja Ronck, which will be released in August of this year, will be called “The Good Life”, and the first single release from it invites the counterpart with grungy guitars to also deal with nothing less than to be satisfied with everything that is beautiful, even if everything is not going smoothly until then: „Let’s dream about a good, good life. Are you in?“

Salute – „Feels Like My Hands Are On Fire“

Sky’s the limit: salute has long been on the way up in the UK, its adopted country, up, up, recently with the title BBC Radio 1’s “Future Artist of the Month”, with TikTok fame for the number “Peach” , up a few rungs with remixes for acts like Kaytranada, a tour of the US and Australia, and a label deal with Ninja Tune offshoot Technicolour. “Feels like my hands are on fire” can be found on this newly released EP called “Shield”; a post-stepping colorful shimmering pop song, club track, dream catcher, featuring vocals by salute himself and co-produced by The 1975 drummer George Daniel.

Thundercat & Tame Impala – „No More Lies“

Incidentally, “No more lies” was also our FM4 song for Sunday.

Allegedly, Californian bass and beats master Stephen Bruner, aka Thundercat, has been wanting to work with Tame Impala for ages, and now it’s finally worked out. Kevin Parker contributes his signature psych-pop vocals as Thundercats thump softly funky bass underneath and the two talk of an impending breakup. Later, a free-jazzy, new-age synth flute joins the action, and actually, for a break-up song, things are actually in a good mood: „So put your seatbelt on, I think we’re about to crash (…) But it’s not your fault, I’m just kind of ass“.
