The multiple Grammy-winning rock band also asked for consideration for the family of Hawkins, who leaves behind a wife and several children. The group did not comment on the cause of death.

The US musician was found dead in a hotel in Colombia’s capital Bogotá, the news magazine “Semana” reported online. The band was supposed to perform at the Estereo Pìcnic music festival there.

Hawkins has been with the Foo Fighters – one of America’s most influential and critically acclaimed alternative rock bands – since 1997. He was involved as a drummer on some of the group’s biggest hits, including “Learn to Fly” and “Best of You.”
