Uruguay international Luis Suarez was greeted as a hero by cheering crowds on his return to his debut club, Nacional Montevideo.
The former FC Barcelona striker arrived in his native country in the morning. “I am convinced that I made the right decision for the club and for the country in view of the preparation for the World Cup“, Suarez confided. “I’m here for you,” the 35-year-old striker said after arriving at the stadium, interrupted by chants from the fans. “I want to be here and couldn’t be happier anywhere else.rs”.
The Nacional Montevideo had formalized the return of Suarez who signed up for 5 months with the club of his professional debut. The former player of Ajax Amsterdam, Liverpool, FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid should make his debut on Tuesday in his new colors.
Suarez started his professional career at the Nacional in 2005 at the age of 18, before leaving the following season for Europe. He is the top scorer in the history of the Uruguayan selection with 65 goals in 126 selections and he will participate at the end of the year in Qatar in his 4th World Cup.
