Brama Traoré, 62, is the new coach of the national team. It was presented to the public this Monday, March 11, 2024, by the Burkinabè Football Federation. The new coach of the Stallions replaces in this position the French technician, Hubert Velud, whose contract was not renewed after the African Cup of Nations (CAN) football during which the course of the national team was was stopped in the round of 16.

Among six initial candidates, it was the profile of Brama Traoré which caught the attention of the members of the FBF Executive Committee to preside over the destiny of the Stallions. Coach of the U20 and U23 national teams, the choice of Brama Traoré did not surprise those involved in Burkinabè football.

Presenting it to the public, the president of the Federation, Lazare Banssé, indicated that “it was time to recognize the merit of local actors”. The new mentor of the Stallions has the missions, among others, to qualify Burkina Faso for the CAN Morocco 2025 and for the 2026 World Cup which will be organized by the trio Canada-Mexico-United States. Unlike his predecessors, he benefits from the possibility of forming the staff with whom he will work.

For Brama Traoré, there will no longer be any question of indiscipline in the national team. “I will do everything to ensure that discipline reigns within our national team. We don’t need indiscipline within our team. The country is going through a difficult situation today and we must take this into account,” he said.

Transition coach, the duration of his contract has not yet been determined. The Executive Committee, which will emerge from the elections next August, will decide whether or not to remain at the head of the Stallions.
