National star Gut (22) takes a long break from football
Most recently, Malin Gut is toiling for the comeback after a cruciate ligament rupture. She still misses the EM. And now decided to take a break from football.
As an 18-year-old, Malin Gut (22) made his debut for the national team, after stints at FC Zurich and GC 2020 he switched to Arsenal. The Swiss was considered one of the greatest midfield talents in Europe.
Until she tore the cruciate ligament in her left knee in May 2021. The next shock followed six months later. A misstep while hiking threw her back in rehab. To be closer to her family for the comeback drudgery, she left Arsenal and moved back to GC.
Gut didn’t play a game for the Hoppers last season, and she hasn’t had a serious fight for 14 months. Her contract has now expired. She was not called up for the European Championship either, although her national coach Nils Nielsen initially raised hopes and equipped her with a kind of wildcard for the EM camp.
«7 year old I would be amazed»
Now Gut is giving an update on her situation on Instagram. And announces that she is turning her back on football for the time being. “I have decided to take a break from football next season,” she writes. “Throughout my career I’ve always had the privilege of experiencing incredible moments and my 7-year-old self would be amazed at all the dreams I’ve been able to achieve.”
Now she is ready to devote her time to other things and to gain experiences that were not possible as a footballer. “I would like to thank everyone for the unforgettable time we spent together. I will always be grateful to all the fans who have always supported me, »she concludes her post.
