Real Madrid snatched a miraculous 2-2 draw from the wire against Elche on Sunday at home for the 22nd day of La Liga and remain leaders with four points ahead of Sevilla FC, hung 2-2 by Celta Vigo on Saturday. The Merengues were badly embarked, after the penalty missed by Karim Benzema (33rd) before he left on injury (58th), and the two goals conceded by Lucas Boyé (42nd) and Pere Milla (76th).
But they managed to come back in the last minutes of the match, thanks to a penalty from Luka Modric (82nd) and a final goal from Eder Militao in added time (90th + 2), after a cross from Vinicius .An unlikely reversal of the situation, in the right line of the “remontada” successful by Atlético Madrid the day before against Valencia (3-2).
Concerns over Benzema’s condition
But the point of the draw may not be enough to reassure Carlo Ancelotti, three weeks before the clash against Paris Saint-Germain in the knockout stages of the Champions League at the Parc des Princes (February 15).
