After the misstep of their rivals and neighbors on Saturday at Salernitana (2-2), Simone Inzaghi’s players could become leaders again, but the Nerazzurri missed their match on Sunday. They are trailing the Rossoneri by two points, however with a late match to play against Bologna. The bad weekend of the Milanese formations could benefit Naples (3rd, three points from the leader), traveling Monday to Cagliari.
At San Siro, Simone Inzaghi’s players, already beaten in the Champions League on Wednesday by Liverpool (2-0), were picked cold by a very enterprising Sassuolo team, rewarded with goals from Giacomo Raspadori (8th) and Gianluca Scamacca (26th). Sassuolo managed to preserve their lead thanks to several exceptional saves from their goalkeeper, Andrea Consigli. Stefan De Vrij reduced the score with a header in added time, but his goal was disallowed after the video was called for an interist handball early in the game.
In the afternoon, Atalanta Bergamo (5th) fell 1-0 at Fiorentina (7th). The “Viola” won against the “Dea” thanks to a goal from Krzysztof Piatek (56th). The men of Gian Piero Gasperini, excluded during the meeting for having lost his temper with the referees, have a fifth meeting without a win.
