Lebanese journalist Elie Bassil launched a sharp attack on his compatriot, the artist Elissa, for ignoring what is happening in Gaza and continuing to perform at concerts.
“Basil” denounced Elissa’s response to critics of her plastic surgery on her lips, and her saying, “She is Elissa and that is enough,” commenting that “this talk is inappropriate and strange at a time when victims are falling in Gaza, especially children.”
Through his YouTube channel, he sent a message to Elissa, saying that it would have been better for her to ask questions related to the Palestinian issue during the meeting, and to answer them with tact and intelligence, even if it was for the sake of acting and garnering interaction, out of respect for herself and her audience.
He considered it shameful that Elissa always talked about herself in terms of the ego, especially after all these years of fame, describing her as “narcissistic.”
Elie Bassil criticized the Lebanese artist’s justification that canceling her concerts, despite the Gaza War, would cause “the livelihood of many people to be cut off,” pointing out that she has millions and does not need money now.
