Foreign cars, goodbye? How Japan’s ban on importing cars will affect the car market in Russia

The Japanese authorities read the paper of the European Commission the other day. We were impressed, made ctrl + c – ctrl + v, made a couple of edits and signed the document. It clarified that in addition to cars, it is impossible to import into our country:

– yachts;

– locomotives;

– tires for large vehicles;

– asphalt;

– certain steel, copper, nickel, aluminium, lead and zinc products;

– car locks;

– car seats and much more.

That is, in fact, they decided to cut ties with Russia in this area for good. Since before that, Japan imposed restrictions on the supply of car models that cost more than 6 million yen (3,924,072 rubles at the current exchange rate).

True, this decision dealt a greater blow to Japan itself. Because before the bans, she was earning 700 thousand dollars a day in Russia. More specifically, the situation is as follows: last year alone, about 200,000 used cars worth about $1.8 billion were delivered from Japan to Russia. After the tightening of anti-Russian sanctions, exports will be limited to small cars, which means that the Japanese will receive only 720 million evergreens.
