Update from 8:48 p.m.: Now there are the first official figures on the fire. According to information from the fire brigade, 35,000 square meters of forest are currently burning in the city of Lüdenscheid on a slope above the B54 federal road between the Oedenthal and Bruges junctions.

“The fire is not yet completely under control, but we are on the right track,” said fire chief Christopher Rehnert. In addition to the extinguishing work on the steep slope, aisles are now being cut to prevent the fire from spreading to the adjacent forest areas.

The Lüdenscheid fire brigade is currently attacking the fire from all sides in order to get the fire under control. In the meantime, the alarm has also been raised in Schalksmühle and Halver. However, the water supply seems to be problematic, so that the military forces have to withdraw in some places.
Supplying the emergency services in the forest with the tanker via the Oedenthal does not work because the approach to the site is too steep. Instead, the replenishment should be organized via Othlinghausen. However, the approach is not marked in color here.
Two farmers drive towards the tankers with their tractors so that they can find the place of action up in the forest area. Meanwhile, up in the forest, the emergency services are urgently waiting for water supplies – and have to withdraw further from the flames.
Another vehicle has since arrived. However, the water reserves will probably not be sufficient. A helicopter has arrived on site.
