Daniela Klette was arrested in Berlin on Monday February 26. Aged 65, the woman is one of the alleged members of the former terrorist organization Red Army Fraction (RAF), which caused several attacks in the country between 1971 and 1991.

End of the run for Daniela Klette. The 65-year-old German terrorist activist was arrested on Monday February 26 in Germany. The sixty-year-old allegedly belonged to the former violent far-left organization Red Army Fraction (RAF), responsible for several attacks in the country from 1971 to 1991.

It was in an apartment in the Kreuzberg district, in the center of the capital, that Daniela Klette was arrested, without putting up any resistance, said Koray Freudenberg, public prosecutor of Verden. Ammunition was found on site.

According to information from Spiegel, it was her fingerprints left on an Italian passport which allowed her to be confused. The trio essentially tried to finance their life in hiding through robberies, some successful, others not.

Daniela Klette and her alleged accomplices Ernst-Volker Staub and Burkhard Garweg have been wanted since the 1990s for allegedly participating in the RAF, a far-left group advocating armed struggle, which killed around thirty people.

They belong to the “third generation” of the organization, the successors of the creators of the group, most of whom were arrested in the 1970s, explained Koray Freudenberg, public prosecutor of Verden.

The three accused are the subject of an investigation by the Verden public prosecutor’s office (Lower Saxony), for attempted murder and various robberies and attempted thefts, between 1999 and 2016. The first, for which they are incriminated and which brought them around 500,000 euros, dates back to 1999.
