The singer of the flagship group of the 1970s “Once upon a time”, Richard Dewitte, was sentenced to three years in prison on Monday during a trial in Meaux (Seine-et-Marne) for “corruption of a minor”, a AFP learned this Tuesday from the prosecution.
Richard Dewitte, the former singer of the group “Once upon a time”, was sentenced this Monday to three years of imprisonment with continued detention. Aged 77, he was found guilty of corruption of a minor via electronic communications and sexual propositions to a minor under 15 years old by an adult and followed by a meeting, the Meaux prosecutor’s office indicated this Tuesday, confirming information from Le Parisien and the Figaro.
Incarcerated since August 22, Richard Dewitte appeared detained during a trial for immediate appearance at the criminal court, referred for the first time during the summer. He was found guilty of making sexual propositions to a 13-year-old girl via the site coco.fr. Behind the girl’s nickname was in reality a gendarme from the Paris research section.
Already convicted in the past
Richard Dewitte was arrested by the gendarmerie during a meeting arranged with the virtual teenager in Croissy-Beaubourg, in the north of Seine-et-Marne. He had already been convicted for similar acts, in February 2015 in Dijon and in September 2019 by the Paris Court of Appeal, the prosecution said.
Formed in 1972, the group “Il suis une fois” made itself known with famous hits, including “I still dreamed of her”.
