Former President Moon Jae-in opens a bookstore on the 25th in Pyeongsan Village, Yangsan, Gyeongsangnam-do, where his sister-in-law is located.

The name of the bookstore was confirmed as ‘Pyeongsan Bookstore’ as it was originally known. As this is a private activity, there is no separate media release or official commemorative event following the opening of the store. However, late in the afternoon on the opening day, only villagers will be invited to hold a signboard hanging ceremony.

For the time being, former President Moon resides in the bookstore and takes care of management-related matters. It is known that officials from the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation will also help. After opening, regular cultural events are also being prepared.

The bookstore, located at the end of the alley on the right side of the Pyeongsan Village Hall, is a single-story bookstore with a building area of 142.87㎡ (43 pyeong). It is a 5-minute walk from the former sister-in-law of President Moon. It is not just a place to sell books, but a space for authors and readers to meet and discuss, as well as a large yard and a small loess room to serve as a shelter for villagers.

In December of last year, former President Moon purchased 695 square meters (210 pyeong) of 3 parcels, including a house and land 300 meters from his home, for 850 million won. It is possible to sell drinks and food such as coffee by changing the use from a general house to a first-class neighborhood living facility (retail store). Only the interior of the house was remodeled and the bookstore was scheduled to open in February or March, but as the frame reinforcement work took longer, permission was obtained on the 13th of this month.
