West Virginia basketball suffers another blow.

Former Syracuse Orange men’s basketball center Jesse Edwards is expected to miss four weeks at West Virginia due to a fractured right wrist, per release. Edwards will have surgery this week.
The injury is the opposite wrist from Edwards’ previous injury. He fractured his left wrist against Boston College in 2022 and missed the remainder of the season with Syracuse.
Edwards injured his right wrist this past Saturday as the Mountaineers lost to UMass. Edwards played just 16 minutes in that game. He had his wrist taped in the first half according to media reports and attempted to play in the second half before being sidelined.
The news comes as another blow to a West Virginia program which has gone through an unexpected head coaching transition and roster overhaul, not to mention individual player suspensions and medical emergencies.
Edwards, a fifth-year senior, exited the Syracuse program after four years and elected to use his final year of eligibility playing at West Virginia. As the Mountaineers’ starting center, Edwards has averaged 14.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per game in 10 contests.
