Just before Christmas 2022, the former doubles ace Oliver Marach officially announced his retirement, and now the Styrian has returned to the international tennis stage. However, not as an active player, but as a trainer – and of all people from his long-time successful partner Mate Pavic. Marach won six of his 23 ATP doubles titles together with the Croatian. The absolute highlight was the 2018 Grand Slam triumph at the Australian Open, plus the finals at Wimbledon (2017) and the French Open (2018). In May 2018, the man from Graz was in second place in the doubles world rankings behind Pavic.
