Kimi Raikkonen has retired from Formula 1. “It’s good to be out there,” he said in a recent “Autosport” interview for a crisp all-round blow.
Meanwhile, it is also clear what the Finn with 350 GP starts (F1 record) will do in the future: He turns to his passion for motocross and becomes team boss.
Kimi’s pilots compete against Seewer
Räikkönen has been the owner of the Ice One Racing Team for some time, which is now the Kawasaki factory team.
Means: Kimi’s pilots Ben Watson and Romain Febvre will compete against the Swiss motocross star Jeremy Seewer in the top class MXGP for the world championship crown. The season starts in Great Britain on February 20th.
Responsible for strategic development
“Now that I’ve retired from racing, I can spend more time on this project,” says Räikkönen. The 42-year-old will be responsible for strategic development. Team manager is Antti Pyrhönen, Kimi’s Finnish compatriot and trusted motocross man.
Kimi Raikkonen contested his last Formula 1 GP at the memorable finale in Abu Dhabi on December 12th. In the Alfa-Sauber he had to give up early because of brake problems. (MD/yap)
