Formula 1 in the Netherlands will stay with Viaplay for five years longer

The new deal comes at just the right time for the ailing streaming service. Last year there was a major reorganization. Viaplay was in dire straits following major losses and announced that it would withdraw from many countries. Viaplay is doing better in the Netherlands, partly thanks to Formula 1.

The extension of the F1 broadcasting rights is also good news for Talpa Network. Earlier this month, it announced a strategic partnership with Viaplay. John de Mol’s company will have access to a selection of sports offerings, such as Formula 1. SBS9 has been called Viaplay TV since April 5.

In addition to Formula 1, darts from the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and football matches from the English Premier League and German Bundesliga, international series and home-grown films and entertainment will continue to be shown on Viaplay TV. The joint intention of Talpa Network and Viaplay Group is to increase the sports offering on Viaplay TV in the near future.
