What has been Norma Piña’s response to Zaldívar’s accusations?

The Minister President Norma Lucía Piña Hernández and the retired Minister Arturo Zaldívar have been involved in a controversy, since in the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) a complaint was admitted to investigate the former official’s management periods, this for alleged corrupt practices.

After the complaint was made known, Arturo Zaldívar began his media defense, from his digital platforms he minimized the incidents and argued that he was the object of harassment with electoral aims, in addition to discrediting the reliability of the anonymous accusation filed before the Court.

In the last of his statements, the retired minister disclosed what the legal actions will be, stating that in subsequent days he will formalize a set of complaints before the Attorney General’s Office, the National Electoral Institute, the SCJN and the National Institute of Information and Access to Information (INAI).

Likewise, at a press conference on April 16, he announced that with the support of Morena he will request an impeachment trial against Norma Piña, for the accumulation of irregularities that she allegedly perpetrated.

Among Zaldívar’s accusations, he accused Norma Piña of having held meetings with party leaders and allying with Xóchitl Gálvez, presidential candidate, supposedly to coordinate their strategies against him. To date, Norma Piña has attended two plenary meetings of the SCJN, however, she has not issued any statement in this regard, she has focused on performing her role as minister president, deliberating the issues agreed on the Court’s agenda.

It should be noted that the minister does not have a presence on social networks, despite the profiles that may arise with her identity and image. That is, it must be in a public event or when she is questioned by the media when she speaks out about Zaldívar’s accusations.

On the other hand, through a bulletin the National Association of Circuit Magistrates and District Judges of the Judicial Branch of the Federation supported Norma Piña against Zaldívar’s announcement to undertake an action of political responsibility and make multiple accusations.

“The political responsibility action is a constitutional mechanism to apply sanctions to officials in specific situations; but its application has been frequent to constantly intimidate judges,” is mentioned in the official document.
