Formula 1 | Official: FIA pushes back on 2021 F1 budget reports

As expected, the FIA communicated on the budget caps and the financial reports of the F1 teams regarding the 2021 season. But contrary to what was hoped, no information is yet available.

Indeed, the federation revealed that it was still working on the development of these reports and that thus, it could not communicate them immediately. A false report had circulated on the internet at the beginning of the afternoon, emanating from sites having relayed a visual montage assembled from scratch.

The FIA press release confirms that nothing has been decided on the validation of the budgets and that the complexity of the file is delaying the process. We thus learn thanks to this press release that the publication will take place next Monday, October 10.

“The FIA informs that the conclusion of the analysis of the 2021 financial submissions of Formula 1 teams and the subsequent publication of the certificates of compliance with the Financial Regulations will not take place on Wednesday 5 October.”

“The analysis of the financial documents is a long and complex process which is in progress and which will be completed to allow the issuance of the certificates on Monday October 10. The Financial Regulations have been unanimously approved by all the competitors, who have worked positively and in conjunction with the FIA budget cap administration throughout this first year under the Financial Regulations.”

“As previously communicated, there has been significant and unsubstantiated speculation and conjecture regarding this, and the FIA reiterates that until it is finalized no further information will be provided.”

The FIA also denies the rumors conveyed by Helmut Marko about a leak orchestrated by Shaila-Ann Rao, former adviser to Toto Wolff and current director of single-seaters for the federation: “The FIA also reaffirms that any suggestion that FIA staff leaked sensitive information is also without merit.”
