Four sentenced to 30 years in the Robert Serra case; 7 involved will pay 9 years

The 6th Court of Trial of the Criminal Judicial Circuit of the Caracas Metropolitan Area sentenced a group of people to prison terms ranging from 30 years to 9 years and six months in prison, for the murder of the then deputy to the Assembly Nacional, Robert José Serra Aguirre, as well as María Herrera Sequera.

Serra and Herrera were killed on October 1, 2014, in Caracas.

Indicates the statement that Edwin José Torres Camacho and Carlos Enrique García Martínez were sentenced to 30 years in prison for the commission of the crimes of aggravated homicide, foreseen and punished in article 407 ordinal 2 ° in accordance with the generic aggravating factor established in article 77 ordinal 1 °, 5 °, 8 ° and 12, all of the Penal Code; to the detriment of Serra; also for aggravated robbery, typified and sanctioned in article 458 in accordance with the referred generic aggravating factor.

They were also convicted of committing the crimes of homicide perpetrated with treachery, for futile motives, in the execution of an aggravated robbery, foreseen and sanctioned in Article 407 ordinal 2 ° in accordance with the generic aggravating factor established in Article 77 ordinal 1, 5, 8 and 12, all of the Penal Code; to the detriment of María Herrera Sequera. In addition to the crime of association to commit a crime typified and sanctioned in article 37 in accordance with article 27 and article 29 paragraph 6, all of the Organic Law against Organized Crime and Terrorism Financing, aggravating circumstances for having been committed to the detriment of a deputy to the National Assembly.

Meanwhile, Jaime Padilla and Leiver Padilla Mendoza were also sentenced to 30 years imprisonment for the commission as co-authors of the aforementioned crimes.

For its part, Erick Ricardo Romero Arteaga, Raidel Jesús Espinoza Flores, Wuadid Pacheco Pacheco and Danny Enrique Salinas Quevedo, like Yumelis Elena Meregote Pereira and Neira Palomino Anaya, were convicted and sentenced to nine years and six months in prison for committing the crimes of an unnecessary accomplice in the crime of aggravated robbery, as well as association to commit a crime.
