FPÖ – Hafenecker: “COFAG investigative committee is the logical consequence of the uncovered ÖVP scandal swamp!” | Freedom Parliamentary Club

In the interests of taxpayers, it must be clarified how around twenty billion euros of tax money was distributed to “corona aid” and diverted to ÖVP favorites

Vienna (OTS) “This investigative committee is a necessity and the logical consequence of everything that came to light in the ÖVP corruption investigative committee. On the ‘black box’ COFAG, in addition to a damning report by the Court of Auditors, there is also a ruling by the Constitutional Court that clearly shows this construct to be illegal. It is the ‘deep black state’ in its purest form that has worked here, and we will therefore take a very close look at which ÖVP friends have been given huge sums of tax money!”, explained FPÖ General Secretary NAbg today. Christian Hafenecker, MA in his speech during the short debate on the establishment of the COFAG investigative committee.

The causes Benko, Kika/Leiner and Siegfried Wolf, among others, would also be big topics for the U-Committee. “This is about full clarification for the benefit of taxpayers as to whether and how ÖVP donors or ÖVP supporters have been advantaged. Because it’s not just the citizens who have long had the impression that some people in this state can act according to the motto ‘On the one hand, throw small bills into the ÖVP, on the other hand, get big bills in return’. In any case, the years of control of the finance, interior and justice ministries are enough for the ÖVP to operate their ‘deep state’, which would make all of this possible,” said Hafenecker.

The liberal general secretary literally tore apart the ÖVP’s request for another investigative committee: “Compared to the draft that was leaked just a few weeks ago, the green coalition partner has been visibly ‘copy-pasted’ and the questions to be investigated have been taken one-to-one from our COFAG investigative committee -Request copied in. The ÖVP is apparently playing offended and is no longer embarrassed about anything. This misuse of one of the most important parliamentary control instruments is simply embarrassing for a party that was once a state party!” Related to this, ÖVP MP Hanger’s statement at his press conference today is also interesting, where, when asked about his expectations of the U-Committee, he said that there four parties would work against one: “Apparently the ÖVP is no longer in coalition with the Greens. In addition, it is questionable where there was an alleged ‘red-blue abuse of power’ when the last coalition between the two parties at the federal level was in the 1980s. In view of this, the ÖVP should probably set up a commission of historians rather than an investigative committee!”
