France achieves record revenues from international tourism in 2022

France achieved 57.9 billion euros in 2022 thanks to international tourism, which is a record revenue but still less than the gains made by Spain in this regard, according to the agency “At France” responsible for promoting French tourism abroad.

“At the end of December 2022, international tourism revenues in France increased by 1.2 billion euros compared to 2019,” the agency said in a report published on its website.

“This result is explained by the return of European and American tourists, but also by inflation, which automatically increases revenues in terms of value,” she added. On the other hand, the flow of travelers “from Asia, especially from China and Japan, is still very weak.”

In terms of international tourism revenues, France is still lagging behind Spain, “which has regained the European lead in 2022,” with Madrid achieving revenues of 64.8 billion euros at the end of November.

Among the foreign tourists who spend the most in France in 2022 are citizens of three neighboring countries: Belgium (7.3 billion euros), Germany (6.5 billion) and the United Kingdom (6.2 billion), while the United States ranked fifth (5.6 billion).
